HTF Fundraiser for Honor The Fallen's cemetery restoration efforts.

2nd Annual Sons Fall Cook-out/Camp-out. Department Commander Steve Grott,
Department Auxiliary President
Dawn Dennie, National Sons
Commander Robert Hammett, and
Department Sons Commander
Jeff Norman were among the many guest who enjoyed some great
food and fellowship at the Squadron #23 newly electrified
campground. |

National Convention

AMVETS National
Convention has concluded and all of the delegates are traveling back
home. Check back soon, full details for awards, elections, and
by-law changes will be uploaded soon.
8-14-10
Saturday’s business
included the final business of the week including election of
National Officers, Installation, and the fellowship and celebration
of members from all over the country. Full details will be available
soon
8-13-10 Another
National Sons award for Indiana! Congratulations to our Department
Chaplain George Hagle, his State Pin design was chosen as the best in the
country! Also, another AMVET award for Indiana, Don Derringer
Commander of Indianapolis Post #99 was named AMVET of the year.
The proposed changes to the Constitution &
By-Laws were voted on today in first business session. Today 44
proposed amendments were brought to the floor. 29 passed, 9 failed,
and 6 were withdrawn. A full list with details will be available
later this week, please check back
The first round of nominations was finished
during this afternoon’s session. The following are the members
nominated for National Offices; Commander - Robert Hammett – IN, 1st
Vice - John Barnhill – MI, 2nd Vice - Jon Keith – VA, 3rd
Vice - Don Finnegan – IN, Finance Officer - Dan Briggs – OH, Judge
Advocate - Gene Batt – OH, Provost Marshal - Gene Rabb – NC, Provost
Marshal - Joe Stopyra – PA,
Provost Marshal - Graham Osborne – ?, Provost Marshal - Jeff Norman
– IN
Friday’s total delegate count was 94, the Indiana delegation was 22.

Today’s
business began with the Awards Breakfast. Monticello Squadron #91
was presented with a 150 Member Award. Muncie Squadron #12 was also
presented with a 150 Member Award. Rockville Squadron #61 was
presented with a 100 Member Award. A full list of award recipients
will be available on the website later this week.
8-11-10
Most of our Department Officers have
arrived in Louisville. Today’s business includes an NEC meeting,
review of the proposed By-Law changes, Opening Ceremony, and a
review of the Life Membership fund. The evening
concluded with the excitement of an entire tower of the hotel being
evacuated after a prankster pulled the fire alarm.
8-10-10
Commander Norman and First-Vice Norris have arrived in Louisville
with several other Department Officers on the way. The Indiana
Delegates will be speaking with Sons from all over the Nation about
the business of the week and the proposed By-Law changes. More
updates coming throughout the week.

Muncie Squadron #12 held an American Red Cross blood drive at the
Bingo Hall. Each donor received a pass for one Bingo Package.

Squadron #23 Spam and Spork Cook-off
National 1st Vice Commander Hammett and Department Commander
Norman visited Hartford City Squadron #23 for the Spam and Spork
Cook-off. This event raised several hundred dollars for the
scholarship fund and collected a large box of food for the local
food bank. |

West Harrison Dinner & Dance
3rd Vice Commander
Mike Lehman and members
from several Squadrons visited West Harrison for a Dinner &
Dance in the pavilion. 3rd Vice Lehman attended with good wishes
from the entire state in encouragement of Post #13's rebuilding
efforts. |

Veterans House Groundbreaking
Commander Norman and several other Department Officers joined
the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center staff as they
celebrate the Groundbreaking of the Veterans House, they also
joined patient on the 5th floor for their Christmas in July to
watch them open their gifts and share a pizza lunch. |

Squadron #12 in Muncie for their AMVETSTOCK
Commander Norman and several other Officers joined Squadron #12
in Muncie for their AMVETSTOCK weekend. Commander Norman once
again has a shaved head after raising over $800 for the cause.
More to come on how much was raised for the Muncie VA Clinic. |

IVH Summer Picnic
There was a great turnout for the IVH Summer Picnic at Indiana
Veterans Home. The weather was great, although a little hot, and
the patients enjoyed some great food and great company. The Sons
meeting was well attended and final plans were made for National
Convention. |

Post #23 invited members from neighboring Post and the local
public to join them in celebrating the Independence of Our Great
Nation with a carry-in cookout and fireworks display.

Re-Election Reception (Click Here) 18 Pictures in this album
Fist-Vice Commander Norris and Rockville Post #61 hosted a
Re-Election Reception for Commander Norman. The fun was too much
to fit into one night and the party was continued on Saturday.
Department Officers from around the state, as well as Commander
Norman's friends from Rockville were present to help him kick
off his second term leading our organization.
